I think for the third project I want to talk about Google Docs:
I want to make a list of ways I've seen it used and recommend some new ways.
Already used:
- Class study guide- study guide from teacher put in a google doc- everyone adds to it and studies from it.
-Create presentations together- using the google docs powerpoints
-Make notes about a project.
Some new suggestions:
- use it to administer a test with private documents that the students answer on.
-use the google doc to share lesson outlines or notes with students.
-Use the google doc to share teaching ideas among teachers in a school.
- Use a google doc and calendar to share plans and activities with interested parents.
-Set up a question and answer document in which parents can post questions and you can respond to them.- The same could be done for students.
-Build a class google doc powerpoint that tells a story- each students is assigned to get on and tell the next part of the story.
- you could do all sorts of collaborative projects where students added sentence after sentence or idea after idea.
-You could create a book club that discusses books- students could choose several and join the document related to their book to discuss.

Powerpoint PTP
I can't find a way on blogger to load the Powerpoint to the Blogger site- I'm going to email this to you the powerpoint part to you and Heidi . . . Thanks!!
- What are the copyright implications for downloading YouTube videos?
- You cannot distribute it or sell it- especially not as a product of your own.
- Other than the two problems mentioned here, what other instructional problems could you use this technology for?
- I know some schools don't have YouTube access- this allows you not to use YouTube. It also doesn't couch the video in the YouTube insignia. I met one teacher who liked to use a downloader because the students didn't realize it was necessarily coming from YouTube.
Prezi PTP
- What did you learn about Prezi?
- So I thought that Prezi was actually going to be kind of difficult. Not so much difficult as just time consuming to get anything done. I was impressed how quickly I began to see it come together and how I had it finished in no time.
- What instructional problems could you use this technology for?
- To replace normal powerpoints occasionally to break up the normal routine. To allow students to make presentations that are interesting and creative while they don't have to be overly creative. I think another option, since it's free, is that students without access to computers at home know that if they can access a computer anywhere else they can use this technology. Also, sometimes it is really good for controlling the process of thoughts- it helps the thoughts focus and I think the motion can help express the idea of connecting to something else or moving away from a point.
- What are 2-3 activities you could use this technology for in your own teaching? List the instructional standards if you can identify them.
- A character exploration with charts and diagrams and pictures of characters in a novel.
- Instructional Standard? I think this is talking about characters and how they influence you.
- Another activity could be for a quiz- where the questions are spaced out so you can't see them until you move to the next slide. If you wanted you could design the path so that in going to a question it might whiz past some clues to help your students.
